i wrote this song in a dark headspace. it came out of my head nearly complete during a drunken depression and reflected what had been on my mind. the neighbourhood i grew up in is what they called a "developing neighbourhood" and that meant it was where the powers that be put problems and installed social roadblocks to keep folks from wanting more.

this meant watching people around me give up and die inside a little more every day.this meant doing the same myself.

now it might sound vicious, might stink of the truth
gonna pour a black coffee, sit and just write
about the song from the windows in this neighbourhood at night

in this neighbourhood at nigh we can almost see the light

what was taken for granted, what was lost in the words
what was quickly looked over, now must be heard
what was tired and trialed, trusted and denied
coveted and beguiled, made to look mild

the songs from these windows sing a low sad tune
curled up near unconscious wishing we were on the moon
wondering if we're no worthy, here the lies come home
if you get up real early you can still catch us out
taking one step forward in a life of regret
make you one day older and closer to death
deeper in debt, sure it's been said before
but it feels a bit colder when it's knocking at your door
