i wrote this song for a fellow who asked me to write a song called "do right by you" for a movie that never got made. i thought it would be clever to make it a sad song instead of about "doing right by a partner".
it ended up being about the miserably toxic relationship i was in at the time. womp womp
lyrics
cold dark night
under these city lights
you and me alone, why do we fight
you know it hurts when you say i don't do right by you
it hurts alot, it takes alot to keep from screaming
i'd give away all my favourite cards, all my money and going to bars
if i can only make you see
i'd drink myself to the bottom of an endless bottle
swim in there like the deep blue sea
and that'd be all right by me
